Pence says Trump is ‘missing an opportunity’ with his decision about the Iowa State Fair
Vice President Mike Pence said in a recent Fox News interview that President Trump is “missing an opportunity” with his decision not to attend the 2020 Iowa State Fair. He said that the state fair had been “the kind of venues where presidents and candidates have gone for decades” and that it had become a “hallmark” of presidential campaigns. He argued that Trump, who is currently trailing in polls in the Hawkeye State, should have attended in order to “reconnect” with Iowan voters in a state that he won in 2016. Pence encouraged Trump to find other ways to reach out to Iowans and to consider a “complimentary strategy” to engage with voters in the state.
