Congress begins to admit it’s running out of time to avoid a government shutdown
The congressional session is set to expire on December 11, 2020, and while lawmakers have been able to pass several government spending bills, much of the core appropriations work remains unfinished. Without the passage of these bills, the government will shut down and bring many federal operations to a halt until agreements can be reached. As lawmakers continue to disagree on numerous issues, Congress is beginning to accept that it may not be able to reach an agreement before the December 11 deadline to avert a government shutdown.
