John Paul Keith Stoney Acres Farmfest July 16, 2016

There really isn’t anything like getting out of the stifling, airless city, is there? I’m pleased to say that I’ve had a chance to explore the great outdoors a bit lately- including the recent “Stoney Acres Farmfest” in rural Mississippi. Put on by the folks at John Paul Keith’s Stoney Acres Farm in Hernando, Mississippi, the Farmfest included a host of activities like hayrides, nature walks, live music, and the opportunity to pick a variety of fresh produce from the farm.

The event was held over two days, and it was a great opportunity to kick back and enjoy the beauty of the farm and the surrounding countryside. The air was full of the smell of farm-fresh produce and the wonderful smells of nature itself. Along the way, visitors were provided with detailed information about the farm, along with facts and tips on how to cultivate and appreciate locally grown fruits and vegetables. There were also loads of activities available for kids- like scavenger hunts and arts and crafts.

At the end of the day, all of the attendees were treated to an old-fashioned home-cooked meal and a warm fire. I can definitely say that this was one of the most enjoyable days I’ve spent in the outdoors in a long time. I’m hoping to make a second trip down to Stoney Acres Farm to be a part of the next Farmfest!
