Max Keiser, a financial analyst and host of RT’s show “Keiser Report”, has reversed his stance on a bid to get El Salvador President Nayib Bukele and Argentina’s Finance Minister Martin Guzmán to talk about Bitcoin.

Keiser had initially proposed a joint meeting between the two government leaders to discuss the potential of issuing a national cryptocurrency and encouraging Bitcoin adoption in the Latin American countries.

However, Keiser now says he has received pushback, “Advisers to both Presidents say they are not interested in meeting to discuss Bitcoin.”

The reversal may have something to do with the fact that both El Salvador and Argentina are facing turbulent economic times, and it’s unclear how the two leaders view Bitcoin as a potential solution.

Bitcoin adoption is growing in Latin America, but governments are slow to move on the digital asset. El Salvador and Argentina’s stances on the asset remain unclear, although some local jurisdictions have moved to encourage adoption.
