Trump attempts to spin anti-democracy, authoritarian criticism against Biden
Donald Trump has consistently sought to spin criticism against Joe Biden as an attack on the American people’s democratic values and ideals. This is a mischaracterization of criticism directed at the Biden administration’s policy preferences and legislative approach; those criticisms are rooted in an opposition to authoritarian or antidemocratic policies and practices. In fact, criticism from both sides of the aisle has been leveled against Biden for not being progressive or liberal enough in pushing for sweeping policy change, or for not taking a firm stance against authoritarianism. Trump’s attempts to spin criticism of the Biden administration as an attack on American democracy are blatantly false and should be seen for what it is: a cynical effort to undermine Biden’s legitimacy.
