House GOP campaign arm slams Democrats in new AI-generated ad turning national parks into migrant tent cities
The Republican National Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) are launching a new ad attacking Democrats for advocating for the “catastrophic” policy of using national parks to house migrants. The ad features an AI-generated simulated testimony by a ranger at a national park in California that appears to be under threat of becoming a tent city for migrants.
The ad is part of a broader effort by the NRCC to highlight the issue of immigration, as many Democrats in Congress have called for the use of national parks to be used to house migrants at the US-Mexico border. The ad argues that Democrats “have failed to take responsibility for the crisis at our borders” and that turning national parks into tent cities is “unacceptable.”
“The thought of turning a beautiful national park into a tent city for migrants is catastrophic and irresponsible,” the AI-generated ranger says in the ad. “It’s not only a disservice to the wildlife and natural resources, it’s a disservice to all of us who care for and value these amazing public lands.”
The opposition to the plan to put migrants in national parks has come from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers in California and other states that have national parks, so the ad is part of an effort to tie Democrats to the policy.
