Biden ignores reporter questions after son Hunter defies congressional subpoena

Joe Biden has refused to comment on his son Hunter Biden’s decision to defy a congressional subpoena, choosing instead to focus on his campaign trail message. Biden, who is running for president in 2020, refused to answer questions posed by a reporter from the Washington Post on Tuesday, as he visited union members in Pittsburgh.

While Biden initially said he wasn’t aware of of his son’s decision, he later clarified that he was “proud of my son” for standing up for himself and his family. He also reiterated his belief that the congressional subpoena was a “partisan political move” and that he hasn’t spoken to his son about the matter.

Biden then pivoted back to the topics of his campaign, saying “I think the American people are focused on healthcare, I’m focused on healthcare, and I’m focused on having a good job.” He also said that his campaign is focusing on “our record, my vision of the future, my record of getting things done, and unifying the country.”

Ultimately, Biden is choosing to ignore questions related to his son’s decision in order to keep his focus on the issues he wants to talk about. By doing so, he hopes to avoid further distracting from his message on the campaign trail.
