Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s sister looks to join her in Congress
Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s sister, noted immigration lawyer and pro-immigrant rights advocate Kampana Jayapal, recently announced her intent to run for the US House of Representatives to represent Washington state’s 7th Congressional District. The district is currently held by Rep. Jim McDermott, who is retiring at the end of his term. Kampana’s campaign platform includes a focus on improving healthcare, addressing economic inequality, and protecting immigrants’ rights. Rep. Jayapal, who represents the 7th District’s neighboring district, has endorsed her sister’s candidacy and is a vocal supporter of the progressive planks that are a part of her sister’s campaign.
