Trudeau blames ‘right-wing, American MAGA’ after Canadian Conservative Party votes against Ukraine bill

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada has publicly blamed the American “Make America Great Again” movement for the Canadian Conservative Party’s decision to vote against a bill that would bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities against Russian aggression. The bill, which passed but narrowly, would have increased Canada’s military support for Ukraine as it faces Russian-backed proxy forces in its eastern regions.

In response to the Conservative Party’s decision, Trudeau said that ‘The right-wing, American MAGA mentality has made its way to Canada and unfortunately too many of our political actors are playing that game.’ Trudeau went on to express his hope that the Conservative Party would change their stance on international relations and security and that Canada could take a unified stance on providing greater military support for Ukraine.
