Disney drops all but free speech claim in political retaliation suit against Ron DeSantis
Disney has dropped all but one claim in its lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and other officials over their alleged political retaliation against the company. The lawsuit, which was filed in February, claimed DeSantis and other officials had punished Disney for its support of the 2020 minimum wage referendum by violating the company’s right to free speech. Earlier this week, Disney voluntarily dismissed all but its free speech claim. Disney had previously sought a temporary injunction to prevent DeSantis and other officials from “engaging in any further acts of unlawful retaliation” against the media giant. A hearing to consider Disney’s free speech claim is scheduled for later this month.
